first phase of experimenting with the sacrificial bowls went ok, my favourite are the pressed porcelin into the woven basket picking up the delicate details of the fibre cord.
second phase of experiementation involved dipping the bowls into slip to see what the result would be after firing
third phase of experiementation involved opening the kiln to be faced with a sad sight - total disintegration! the moss bowl survived but didn’t really pick up any detail of the cordage
next phase - fire the porcelain impressions made before the slip bowls were fired, to see whether the detail remains after the firing
The impressions of cord in clay reminds me of the jomon pots of 14000BCE japan and the cord people cultures of 2900BCE central Europe. connections such as these make me realise the legacy clay has and why i love working with this material and on this project
